Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

I've had some file system problems recently and long story short, the
directory /var/log/apt no longer existed.

When apt tries to write to /var/log/apt/history.log the application
segfaults. Manually creating the directory caused apt to work again.
This should probably still be an error but it should not segfault on it.
