You need to modify the /etc/fstab file to enable the drive to be mounted at boot time. When you are prompted to enter your password to manually mount the drive, root becomes the owner of the drive. In the fstab file you can enter options to set the owner of the drive to whoever you wish by entering the uid of user. In a terminal type:
