RFC 2119 (IIRC, I don't have web access to check) generally discourages
TLD validation,  but calls out all numeric TLDs as an exception that
should be checked. So in general, I agree about TLD validation, but all
numeric is an exception.

I agree that there is an issue, but not in the postfix package. Its
input validation is catching the results of input validation failures
elsewhere in the system. I've proposed looking at this more
systematically in the next development cycle.
