This looks to be a configuration error - you've got the nvidia binary
driver installed, but don't have an xorg.conf (which should have been
produced by jockey in the process of enabling the restricted driver).
This results in X trying nouveau (and failing, because nvidia is
installed and has disabled the nouveau kernel module), then fbdev (which
fails because there's on fb driver providing /dev/fb0), then vesa, which
succeeds.
VESA's not very good at suspend/resume, though, and probably interacts
badly with the nvidia kernel module even when VESA alone would work, so
this is likely to be the problem.
