Public bug reported:

I've made a clean install of Ubuntu Maverick in my Acer Aspire 4930
laptop previously running 10.04 (absolutely fine). I ran Maverick in
live session but sound didn't worked and, I thought installing it
physically on drive might make it work. But after installation, it
didn't worked. I ran following command to check if my sound card is
detected or not:

lspci -v | less

and found that my sound card is detected and, I got following
information:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller
 (rev 03)
Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device 013e
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 48
        Memory at 98800000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
        Capabilities: <access denied>
Kernel driver in use: HDA Intel
        Kernel modules: snd-hda-intel

By doing a bit Google-ing, I found this link:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/617647
which suggested similar issues with 4930, as well as other Acer laptop, I tried
troubleshoots mentioned in the thread but it didn't solved the problem.
