I think the ubiquity error may be a red herring. The real problem was
the original failure to install due to an "unable to find radeon GEM
object" error (see syslog). As this was fault condition I cannot be sure
what state the  PC was in when it defaulted to the desktop session and
crashed out of ubiqity.

I think I remember someone filing a similar bug report and it was
difficult (if not impossible) to reproduce, but there is no way this is
ubiquity-slideshow's issue; we don't have any fancy install scripts. We
just tell dpkg where the files go and it puts them there. I'm switching
this over to Ubiquity, which does do fancy things :)

Funny that it would hit an error on a specific locale. Were any other
crashes reported?

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Binary package hint: ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu

installer crash report said include syslog and partman in crash report
Only syslog included as I only seem to be able to attach 1 file

1)  ubuntu 10.10 32 bit install disc
2)  N/A
3)  I expected it to install (last 4 versions of ubuntu have installedon this 
PC with no problem)
4)  The Installer failed to install lots of on screen reports of radeon GEM 
object not found
      installer started a desck top session to enable crash report to be sent
      when desktop session started system reported a crash in ubiquity
