I had same problem. Here is all that was in my syslog for squid after
the failed attempt to upgrade:
Oct 15 16:08:38 desktop squid[30985]: Squid Parent: child process 30989 started
Oct 15 16:08:38 desktop init: squid main process (30985) killed by TERM signal
Oct 15 16:08:38 desktop squid[30999]: Squid Parent: child process 31001 started
Can't find anything else in the logs. Can't find a squid error log
period.
