I have similar behavior and it seems to be related to Bluetooth malfunctioning. For some reason I have a BT dongle which works only on one USB port of the computer. When plugged in another port, apart for not working, when hibernating causes the same effect you described. Do you have built in Bluetooth on the laptop? Could you try disabling it in the BIOS?
