I have a similar problem with my Samsung N210. I had to switch to
voria's PPA to get screen brightness control working in 10.10, but this
broke the suspend/resume in exactly the way described in this bug. This
is a regression from 10.04.

Reverting to the 2.6.32 kernel from Lucid "fixed" the problem.
