Public bug reported: Binary package hint: modemmanager
There is a mobile broadband modem built in my machine (Dell Mini 10). When i boot into Ubuntu, the 3g section of the network manager systray menu does not appear. But when i stop network-manager, and then restart it, the 3g section appears, and i can connect to the 3g network. So the workaround is: sudo stop network-manager && sleep 2 && sudo start network-manager When i write "restart network-manager", the systray icon disappears, so i have to do stop, wait, and then start. The attached network manager log shows the following procedure: - starting ubuntu - stopping network-manager - starting network-manager - connection to mobile broadband connection - disconnecting mobile broadband. When following the process described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingNetworkManager (section Serial Log (Mobile Broadband)) everything goes fine, the problem disappears. So I think that the modem-manager is not started properly on normal boot. ** Affects: modemmanager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Cannot use 3g modem on Dell Mini 10 (1012) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/661851 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
