teej: are you sure you are not having any old python-wx* packages
around? I'm unable to start pype in maverick. And get the exact same
errors as op. An updated package of pype has been released in debian
sid/squeeze and ubuntu natty. Unfortunately my sync request didn't get
attention in time for Maverick.
