I am not sure if the Dell problem is now fixed. The problem was so serious that I gave up, unplugged the computer, and stored it in my basement. I bought an HP Pavillion dv8, which is a *much* better computer. It was cheaper, has more features, and has no fan problem with a current Lucid (haven't tried other versions). I'll never buy another Dell.
