This may be a side effect of the new apt 0.8 in ubuntu 10.10. It has
basic multiarch support now and can grow the cache dynamically and this
feature makes it a bit slower. However it should be more in the 10-20%
range than in the rnage you see. It would be interessting to see what
"time apt-cache unmet" outputs on both 10.10 and 10.04.
