I have the same problem. I found the file extension is missing from the file name. Example, I synced a new podcast and then I added the the mp3 file extension and it worked. So, currently I'm reading up how to wright a command to rename multiply files on my iPod after I have completed my sync. I am going to try the command 'mmv' looks like it might work. I guess it's not really of any help, but i thought I would share it.
