Hi Rick, thanks for taking the time to submit this report and work with us to make Ubuntu better!
The most important part of the error message is this: Setting up samba-common-bin (2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2) ... update-alternatives: error: alternative path /usr/bin/nmblookup.samba3 doesn't exist. dpkg: error processing samba-common-bin (--configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 The file /usr/bin/nmblookup.samba3 is part of the samba-common-bin package, so if it is missing, something has gone terribly wrong between installing it and running the post-install script. You may want to try re-downloading the package directly and forcibly installing it with dpkg: wget https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+files/samba-common-bin_3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2_i386.deb sudo dpkg -i samba-common-bin_3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2_i386.deb sudo dpkg --configure -a Please give that a try and let us know here what happens. Marking Incomplete pending response from rick leach. ** Changed in: samba (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- package samba-common-bin 2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
