Some more data: whenever ShowPosition(diffPos) in
TtOutputControl::highlightChar in outputcontrol.cpp is called, a GTK
assertion is fired:

(tipptrainer:19176): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_text_view_scroll_to_mark:
assertion `get_buffer (text_view) == gtk_text_mark_get_buffer (mark)'
failed

and the position of the top pane moves to the top of the content instead
of moving so that the highlighted line is visible. This makes the
program completely unusable.

This may also be a problem in the wxTextCtrl implementation in
libwxgtk2.6-0, which TtOutputControl inherits from.
