I forgot to mention the consequence of all this. I am not able to disable LVDS (internal display), even when lid is closed. Thus I have XGA resolution when booting up at home with a big screen externally attached, because that's what the internal screen has. It is very annoying watching scaled up XGA on 21 inches.
