Well, having done research on the problem I found that the call to fstat
in support/FileName.cpp:560 puts some rather fantastic value into
st_size (like 160766784 for a file which is actually 1401 bytes in
size). I can reproduce this behavious with some minimal C-code which
just simply prints the size of a file as obtained through fstat: It will
print the size correctly as long as the file resides on a local file
system but will show the behaviour described above for files on a cifs
mounted file system. The bug is therefor nor in lyx but elsewhere and I
will close this bug as invalid.

I am unsure though as to where I should refile it instead. libc6?
kernel? cifs-utils? Suggestions please.
