On 10.04 LTS 64bit on the same machine the problem did not occur. After
upgrading to 10.10 the problem is always reproducible.
If the mouse is moved (touchpad or external usb), every few seconds
(2-5) the system (or UI only?) freezes for about half a second. Happens
on the the desktop and on gdm-greeter.
Guess: This seems to occur only if the CPU is idle or on very low load.
After starting eg cat /dev/urandom > /dev/null the problem immediately
disappears. Killing this cpu load brings back system freezes after some
time.
