This problem has stopped occurring; so I assume there is little point in doing a backtrace. I think it might have been related to a problem with the Exchange connector, which I've logged separately (662072), because deleting and recreating the Exchange connection appears to have brought my calendar back (but I still cannot access my Exchange mailbox). If the problem comes back, I'll do a backtrace and update this bug.
