Hi Daniel, thanks for getting in touch! First of all, output from all 3 runs of alsa-info.sh you can find attached to this and 2 consequent posts (I can't figure out how to attach 3 files to one post). Names of attachments say for themselves.
Now, why dev snapshots or backports? Since the very purchase of this laptop (about half a year ago) internal microphone hasn't been working, which had been a known issue (http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/issues/detail?id=2) until recent dev drivers update that enabled internal microphone (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9921655&postcount=17). That answers why I'm using dev snaphots. Using backports was just a "blind" try to make left speaker work... I was a bit unclear in my initial report, but original drivers _now_ also do not help making left speaker work. I would think of having a hardware problem if not a number of similar reports from other people (see code.google.com link above for several ones to start with). Also there exist a number of bug reports of different age related to different hardware with similar symptoms, on launchpad.net. This also makes me believe that this is unlikely a hardware problem. Unfortunately I can't say on 100% what really caused the speaker issue: I made 2 upgrades, ubuntu release and audio drivers consequently, and only then noticed the problem. So either my upgrade to Maverick (kernel upgrade) caused it or initial attempt to use dev drivers broke it (maybe by masking out the speaker somehow in some kind of "permanent configuration files"?). Thanks a lot in advance and let me know if any additional info is needed. ** Bug watch added: code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/issues #2 http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux/issues/detail?id=2 ** Attachment added: "alsa-info.txt.original" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/663887/+attachment/1703761/+files/alsa-info.txt.original -- Left internal speaker not woring in Maverick [Sony Vaio F11 / ALC275] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/663887 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
