Yes I believe the problem is still present with Lucid. The package usbip
in software center provides a protocol for sharing usb devices plugged
into a linux computer with another linux computer. This also the case
for the new linux software product by eltima at
http://www.eltima.com/products/usb-over-ethernet/. The winstar website
does not mention any drivers or apps for linux and neither do iogear or
belkin. Hence hardware usb device servers are not supported by linux as
far as I can determine by google searching.
