Ok, I think this is the first time I recovered from this kind of freeze, partly thanks to this comment:
> does anyone know the fix for ubuntu 10.04? > Ive seen this problem with many many > distro's and have been unable to find a fix > for ubuntu. It appears to be a problem with > the usb port, if i unplug my mouse dongle > and move it to a diff usb port the problem > seems to go away, until it happens again. from 'Keep getting "Could not grab your mouse" error messag' - http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/keep-getting-could-not-grab-your-mouse-error-messag-698766/ So, the mouse (in this case the 'MX Revolution Cordless Mouse') froze, and first thing I did was go to first console via Alt-F1, logged in there, and issued: $ sudo modprobe -r usbhid $ sudo modprobe usbhid This recovered the clicking, once I was back at the desktop, for a short while - but then it started failing again... After that, I unplugged the USB dongle, and plugged it back in - and now it seems the mouse responds to clicks in a more stable fashion... (I'm rebooting now anyways - but at least its nice being able to save your work :) ) Well, hope this may help, Cheers! -- Lucid - Mouse stops working after shortly after login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571534 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
