Strangely, a day later, I noticed I had no audio OUT. So I unpicked the
above package, and reinstalled all linux-alsa related components. NOW
there is an internal microphone and all is working.

The only thing Ive done _differently_ is to add the following into the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=1

I think the third line is the magic incantation to get this pavilion up
and runngin with mic support.

I have a solution, but as it didn't happen by default on install, is
that still a bug? Leaving the decision to you, thanks for your help!
