I did not use unetbootin, I used the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator on an existing 10.10 setup.
I don't have the exact error text, but it is something like: "Error configuring additional packages to install from CD-ROM" I've ALWAYS had this error for many previous ubuntu releases when installing from a USB stick, they've just never been fatal before - now the installer quits.
