Thanks guys. I now have keychain and gnupg-agent installed to allow me
to provide a password via the command-line.
However, I do feel (1)+(2) should be fixed in ssh-agent / gnome-keyring
since it is rather unfriendly to grab the window aggressively (although
admittedly, gksudo does the same [but atleast that has an option to not
steal focus ("-g")]).
