Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: plymouth

When shutting down the system, there is no splash screen - just a wall
of text (including a segfault) -- see attached screenshot.

This isn't a crash or critical bug, more of a design/usability issue
which detracts from the overall Ubuntu 'slickness'.

It would be cool to have some kind of splash screen telling the user
"we're shutting down now" rather than the traditional Linux "stopping
services" text wall

** Affects: plymouth (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
