Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: unity
Unity shell is not fully loading on a ThinkPad T42p laptop. Installed
from the Ubuntu 10.10 Netbook installer CD.
X is loading, but only the background displays, along with the darker
shaded areas on the side and top where shell elements should load.
Moving the mouse over the areas where the icons should appear, black
boxes with white boxes inside them appear, apparently what should be
text popups over the icons. By guessing I have managed to find one that
brings up a list of applications, which was the only way I could even
bring up a terminal to run this debug.
Display is ATI FireGL Mobility T2
