It works again in the sense that I seem to be back to the original problem: I can dim the keyboard lights but I can't quite turn it off (except by waiting for it to turn off of its own accord). When I try to dim further, it just goes back on full again.
Am running the apport-collect now. ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I just upgraded my June 2009 MacBook Pro from Karmic to Lucid. The keyboard backlight control now finally works (as it used to for a while when I first installed... Jaunty I guess—maybe it's the choice of drivers). But I can't turn it off. What I can do is dim the keyboard's internal lighting until it's almost completely gone. If I press the dim button once more after that, it goes back to full-on again. - I would guess that the driver may be confusing "manually disabled" with - "automatically disabled because the keyboard isn't being used." + I would guess that the driver may be confusing "manually disabled" with "automatically disabled because the keyboard isn't being used." + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC1: jtv 1870 F.... pulseaudio + /dev/snd/pcmC1D0p: jtv 1870 F...m pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC0: jtv 1870 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'NVidia'/'HDA NVidia at 0xd3580000 irq 21' + Mixer name : 'Cirrus Logic CS4206' + Components : 'HDA:10134206,106b4c00,00100301' + Controls : 16 + Simple ctrls : 9 + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'default'/'C-Media USB Headphone Set at usb-0000:00:04.0-1, full speed' + Mixer name : 'USB Mixer' + Components : 'USB0d8c:000c' + Controls : 7 + Simple ctrls : 3 + CheckboxSubmission: e56271c144a9c8f9f675c77e2e4edb56 + CheckboxSystem: 7e42599bda39ea7ff8b528272b6ef52b + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=561a5e5a-24d1-4c9e-8bfb-ff985eecf2f2 + MachineType: Apple Inc.
