Okay, the day after I reported this bug I was able to download photos again, however still not in the we it should be. When I now connect my camera the usual window pops up asking me how I would like to download my photos. Then I select GThumb for this. However GThumb gives an error saying that the camera is already in use. In order to download the photos I have to close GThumb, unmount the camera, start GThumb and then open GThumbs import dialog. So after unmounting the camera it works again.
