Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

Hi,

Over a clean 10.10 install, ubuntu takes approx 500mb of RAM on my
laptop (which have 2go). When, for some reasons, i use more than
approximatively 70% of the RAM AND IF chromium-browser is launched, my
pc begin to hang up really hard. Everything became unresponsive and the
mouse act really slowly.

I have made some kind of diagnostic to find it comes from chromium by launching
the following program:
- Virtualbox / qemu (over 800mb)
- Some java programs (over 300mb)

Basicaly, the RAM in charge is over 1.3 / 1.5go.

Test 1: Launching Chromium-browser
Result: Hang up the computer until my patience force me to hard reboot

Test 2: Launching midori or firefox
Result: The pc is a bit slower because the ram is full and the swap is used BUT
everything is responsible.

Test 3: Launching Vbox and java after chromium
Result: Hang up the computer...

Moreover, i've noticed chromium use over 400mb of memory with the
current maverick build.

I use Ubuntu 10.10 amd64, with an ASUS X53Sa, Intel Core2Duo and 2go RAM
and 1go of SWAP.
