1. running Dapper Drake with all distribution updates applied; kooka =
4:3.5.3-0ubuntu0.1; xsane = 0.97-4ubuntu6
2. scanner is a Heidelberg Linotype-Hell Saphir Ultra 2 into an Adaptec 2940
SCSI card
3. applications crashes during load under both KDE and XFCE
4. xsane also crashes silently after user confirms choice of scanner (see next
bug)
