Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: transmission

I was no longer able to open my Transmission BitTorrent client after installing
updates on my Ubuntu 10.10 64-bit computer. The error message I get while
trying to open Transmission on the terminal is: "transmission: error while
loading shared libraries: libappindicator.so.0: cannot open shared object file:
No such file or directory". I tried several things to fix this and it still
would not open. Commands I have tried before reporting this bug include:
* sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
* sudo apt-get check
* sudo apt-get install libappindicator* --reinstall -f
* sudo apt-get install transmission transmission-gtk --reinstall -f
Running whereis revealed that there does not appear to be a file called
"libappindicator.so.0", but rather a file called "libappindicator.so", at
"/usr/lib/libappindicator.so" and "/usr/lib64/libappindicator.so". I was able
to fix the problem by creating a symbolic link using "sudo ln -s
/usr/lib64/libappindicator.so /usr/lib64/libappindicator.so.0". However, since
this was incredibly annoying, I am reporting this as a bug in an attempt to
save other users from going through what I did.
