Thanks for your bug report.
Xsane was demoted to universe in Lucid and replaced by Simple Scan as
the default scanner application. I believe that this bug might be caused
by the fact that Ubuntu translations shipped in language packs are no
longer used, so the maintainer should simply download them from
Launchpad and add them as a patch to the package.
