** Description changed: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center After changing the keyboard layout from the default one (I selected a wrong while installing), the new when cannot be saved across a reboot. I selected "us intl" in the installation, but changed it to "us altgr- intl" afterwards using dpkg-reconfigure -plow console-setup. Then, I changed it in GNOME and was able to use the new layout in this session. After a reboot, GNOME uses both layouts (the old one as default, the new one as fallback), while xorg uses only the new one. I also discovered that the gconf key - /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd is beeing reseted, even after + /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd is beeing reset, even after removing the write access to the %gconf.xml file. $ cat /etc/default/console-setup VERBOSE_OUTPUT=no ACTIVE_CONSOLES="/dev/tty[1-6]" CHARMAP="UTF-8" CODESET="Lat15" FONTFACE="VGA" FONTSIZE="16" XKBMODEL="pc105" XKBLAYOUT="us" XKBVARIANT="altgr-intl" XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,compose:lwin" ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: gnome-control-center 1:2.32.0-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Nov 2 11:29:28 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-Server 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcEnviron: - SHELL=/bin/bash - LANG=en_US.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + LANG=en_US.utf8 SourcePackage: gnome-control-center
