Bryce, I tried to collect a backtrace last night with no success. I will try again when I find the time. And I will do an apport-collect whenever X crashes.
The crash is not really related to anything in particular as far as I can see. It seems to make no difference what applications are running for example. Just that every once in a while when I wake up the machine from suspend my session is no longer there. One thing I noticed while playing around with gdb was that if I suspend from the virtual terminal command line instead of from the desktop menu, X does not seem to crash.
