I had this problem taking a backup of one of my DVDs, and it turned out to be
missing css support.
"sudo apt-get install libdvdread4; sudo
/usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh" fixed it for me.
It would be nice if brasero gave a better error message than the dump.
I tried k3b and it told me I was missing the css support.
