reading your last comment i'm much convinced that this is an hardware issue,
kernel problem make system not working or working bad, but never working well
for a week than for one time no, then working well again.
And for hardware trouble i include also a peek in the A.C.(someone switch off
or on light), hight freq noises,etc etc etc, that connot be reproduced easily.
So we cannot consider this a bug in Ubuntu.
