After fiddling around a bit this problem disappeared. Don't really know what did it. Think it started to work again after replacing /etc/cups with the folder from my old Lucid-installation, except for printers.conf. Also added a printer and after that it worked.
Computer #2 that had this problem has also cups working fine now. There I haven't done any changes IIRC though. Maybe some update fixed it?
