Hi Martin! Thanks for that additional info. This was a temporary issue in one of the development releases of software-center - the easiest way to solve this is to delete the /home/shyntax/.cache/software-center folder and its contents. You can locate this folder by opening nautilus (the file browser) in your home directory, pressing ctrl + h to make the hidden folders visible, and navigating to and deleting the folder. You may or may not get an error saying that you don't have permissions to delete the folder and its content - in that case you can use 'gksudo nautilus' from the terminal and then follow the process described above.
