Same hardware here: E6410 with intel graphics. Software Ubuntu 10.10 default installation Tried solution 168 provided by Don Thompson (hardware dongle: connect pin 9 to 12) Unfortunately, it did not work in any way for me. What worked is connecting an external monitor. And we tried connecting through ssh remotely and fired "xrandr" commands with several parameters, and randomly the laptop screen fired up, after which it could be used normally. Tried to figure out some golden "works-always" sequences/procedures with xrandr, but did not succeed. Seems to be very random to work with my laptop screen. Makes my Ubuntu 10.10 installation not very useful
