Ubuntu 10.10 with Logitech LX-6 USB optical mouse. Without doing any upgrades suddenly nearly exactly the same problem happened to me. After doing all the upgrades the problem remains the same. The only difference is that switching Asistive Technologies on/off doesn't help. And Asistive Technologies setting are all default. So I don't think it is something to do with AT.
