Perhaps theres is a mode switch for these kind of devices like many 3G
modems which also include a USB disk partition. From the manual I can
see that both the internal and external memory should show up at the
same time. The manufacturer only advertises functionality with Mac/Win,
so perhaps contact them to inform them of this issue.

Could you please try the following to see if the device itself can make
this switch.

When you insert the card, the recording media changeover display will
appear. Change over to the SD card and plug the device into an Ubuntu
computer. Does the SD card show up on the desktop or is it still the
internal memory?

Perhaps getting the lsusb output will show what kind of card reader is
being user (perhaps it is unsupported).

Please let me know how it turns out, because I have been interested in
getting one of these.
