Binary package hint: screen-resolution-extra
The scripts in /usr/share/screen-resolution-extra/ import gtk, but the
python-gtk2 package is not installed by default on kubuntu. This should
be added as a dependency to this package.
The following error is from trying to save xorg.conf from nvidia-
settings when python-gtk2 is missing:

After installing python-gtk2, everything is fine.
