I can confirm this on may 10.10 (amd64), Rhythmbox 0.13.1 I've tested in on two songs:
The first song and when I play it this song continue to play on song change. (sometimes, not always) The slider freezes ((07:55:38) [0x181df60] [slider_moved_callback] rb-header.c:676: slider is not dragging) Next song is played in overlap, but with crunchy ticking noise in the background. (and when slider freezes) it's impossible to pause the song (it may be a different bug) if slider is not frozen you can pause the song and only the second one pauses. Whats interesting is that the first song still plays (with this crunchy ticking background noise), but debug output insists that tehe second one is played. Only entry in debug output that looks out of the place is: (07:40:01) [0xe86f60] [tick_cb] rb-shell-player.c:3582: got tick for unexpected entry 0x2828af0 (expected 0x7fa9342bc130) but I', not sure if it's helpful. Entry "0x2828af0" is the second song rhytmbox actually plays the next song: (07:40:04) [0x28b1000] [volume_changed_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:946: stream file:///home/pawel/Music/Daine%20Lakaien/Deine%20Lakaien%20-%201993%20-%20Forest%20Enter%20Exit/Cd1/03%20-%20Mindmachine.mp3 fully faded in (at 1.000000) -> PLAYING state but it's only noise in the background of the first song. Shortly after that the first ((07:40:05) [0xe86f60] [slider_moved_callback] rb-header.c:676: slider is not dragging) shows up. After the first song stops there is some interesting stuf in debug: (08:21:59) [0x1029f60] [tick_cb] rb-shell-player.c:3600: tick: [file:///home/pawel/Music/Daine%20Lakaien/Deine%20Lakaien%20-%201993%20-%20Forest%20Enter%20Exit/Cd1/03%20-%20Mindmachine.mp3, 26077848675:266448979591(1)] > this is the line when it thinks it's playing the second song but you can hear > it plays the first one instead (08:21:59) [0x1401910] [stream_src_event_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:1930: posting EOS message for stream file:///home/pawel/Music/B%20Complex%20-%20Beautiful%20Lies.mp3 > the song that is _actually_ played stops (08:21:59) [0x1029f60] [rb_player_gst_xfade_bus_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:1764: got EOS message for stream file:///home/pawel/Music/B%20Complex%20-%20Beautiful%20Lies.mp3 -> PENDING_REMOVE (08:21:59) [0x1029f60] [rb_shell_player_handle_eos] rb-shell-player.c:929: got unexpected eos for file:///home/pawel/Music/B%20Complex%20-%20Beautiful%20Lies.mp3 > for the shel this is unexpected, because it thinks the second one is played (08:21:59) [0x1029f60] [unlink_blocked_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:1320: stream file:///home/pawel/Music/B%20Complex%20-%20Beautiful%20Lies.mp3 is blocked; unlinking (08:21:59) [0x1029f60] [unlink_blocked_cb] rb-player-gst-xfade.c:1341: 0 linked streams left (08:22:00) [0x1029f60] [tick_cb] rb-shell-player.c:3600: tick: [file:///home/pawel/Music/Daine%20Lakaien/Deine%20Lakaien%20-%201993%20-%20Forest%20Enter%20Exit/Cd1/03%20-%20Mindmachine.mp3, 26077848675:266448979591(1)] > at the end there are 5 more ticks for the second song So it looks like the shell plays the second one, but the xfade still plays the first one.
