It looks Ubuntu will accept a 2.05 made up of backports of small fixes & changes as mentioned in the previous comment.
So the plan is this: I think all the changes slated for 2.05 are safe, but kklimonda and I both would prefer to see them tested in the wild before backporting them from trunk to the 2.0x branch. Most of these are already in 2.10 or 2.11, but still won't see official release until 2.12 is released for the Mac in a couple of days.
