After upgrading to 10.10 from 10.04 a few days ago I experience this very same problem:
getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0) on ltsp client on *every* login from the client. I made all updates and upgrades as suggested in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/UpdatingChroot plus ltsp-update-sshkeys, additionally. I will try the remedy suggested in the first posting of this thread and report. I will probably file a new bug.
