Unfortunately I also have just Ubuntu single boot on my nx9420, but I think that it is unlikely to be HW failure of battery controller chip - how would than battery managed to be able to last significantly more than specified by value from controller chip (shouldn't it also control charging of the battery and thus preventing it from charging to the full capacity - which is obviously not the case?)?
