Public bug reported:
On boot, iBook G4 1.2 GHz, 768 MB RAM .
System hangs at "configuring network interfaces"
Booting "Linux single " eventually brings a root prompt, Final lines of
screen output are:
* Mounting local filesystems... [OK]
*Configuring network interfaces... [OK] #my comment: about two minutes from
this message to an actual prompt
loading the saved-state of the serial devices...
Illegal UART type: undefined
/dev/ttyS) at 0x0000 (irq = 22) is a undefined # sic
( the last 2 lines repeated twice )
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~#
At this point the network is up ( eth0) and pinging the gateway router or local
boxes works.
Pinging internet IPs works, but there is no DNS resolution ( can't ping
google.com etc.)
# invoke-rc.d gdm
Starts X and login becomes possible, but HAL fails to initialise (
apparently rectified by running invoke-rc.d dbus restart )
Attached: dmesg output after Linux single boot, and output of lspci -vvn
