I am having a similar if not the same issue. Sound works after making the fixes prescribed in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/178442, but upon resume from sleep, no audio. Pulseaudio volume meter and meters on envy 1712 mixer show sound coming through on playback, but nothing comes out the speakers. Tried sudo alsa-utils restart and sudo alsa-utils reset, but neither worked. Ubuntu 10.10, M-Audio Delta 66 sound card with ice1712 chip. Rebooting fixes it until next sleep.
